Okay, well, we are not really lost … it just seemed like a good title.
It’s been a long ass day in the car, all rainy, drizzly, and dark. We’re about 4 hours from our Xmas Eve destination, but the dog was all cooped up, I was bored, and the Coach … well … let’s just say he’s been in the bathroom for quite some time now. (Gross!) It’s our own fault, really, that we haven’t gotten that far today. We didn’t leave Lake Placid until noon because of the dreary weather and the Coach’s fear of icy roads. Plus, the store that I wanted to go to was *finally* open — I ended up buying a t-shirt that says “Eve was Framed!” {SNORT} Then the Coach dropped money at the Olympic store to buy shirts for his friend’s two sons. Actually, I dropped the money because the official store only took Visa and our debit card is a MasterCard. Well shit, the commercial are true! And thenĀ I went into this funky art shop and ended up buying two fancy stained glass moons — one for me and one for my cat sitter (she’s all into magic and stuff, and this looked right up her alley). After that, we hit the road.
This has been an expensive freakin’ trip. Tonight’s hotel? $114 & change because the Coach wanted to stay on the first floor … and all the hotel had was Jacuzzi rooms on the first floor. {Sigh} I am never going to be able to afford my tix to South Africa if this keeps up.
In other news, someone actually wished me a Happy Hannakuh today. That was the biggest sign that we were out of the homogenous midwest.
