Updated: What I Want To Do

The 17 Things I Want To Do This Summer:

• Item 1: Go to St. Louis to see Alison Krauss in concert.
  • Well fuck. The concert was moved to September so now I can’t go at all. That completely sucks. And I tell you, this is the last time I buy tickets for an out of town concert. Ol’ Allie can just go to hell.
• Item 2: Go to the Adirondacks to see my grandmother.
  • Been there, done that. Have the family china to prove it.
• Item 3: Go to the museum down the street from my house.
• Item 4: Take The Coach to Shiloh for his birthday.
  • Well, we went to Little Rock instead. Shiloh can wait for Thanksgiving.
• Item 5: Go to Funky College Town to visit friends.
  • I had plans to do this on Sunday, but the Coach and I are going to his mother’s instead to retrieve an antique dining room table.
• Item 6: Go to the new African American museum in town.
  • Wow, but this was a surprisingly well done museum, built in an old housing development from the 1930s. Or rather, the last remaining building from the old housing development. The docents were good, the price was reasonable, and the displays were interesting. I might considering putting this on the bonus-assignment list for my intro class.
• Item 7: Go to the caves located about an hour from here.
• Item 8: Go to the Free Friday Movie Series showing 3 blocks from my house.
• Item 9: Go to the Zoo.
  • It took me five years to work up to going to the local zoo. And let me tell you, it was a ghetto zoo, stuck back in the 1950s. I feel sorry for a bunch of the animals, caged up in such small spaces. Blah. (On the plus side, they did have cute t-shirts for kids and we bought one for the Coach’s cousin.)
• Item 10: Go to Nashville/Chicago/Anywhere for a long weekend.
  • See above.
• Item 11: Take a conversational Spanish class.
  • Double fuck! The economy hits home. Yeah, the class didn’t make because there were not enough students. How stinky is that!
• Item 12: Play Pub Quiz.
  • I’ve been asking around and it seems that Pub Quiz is now DOA. The last time we went, the guy who was reading the questions couldn’t read. The service was also pretty damned bad. So, no Pub Quiz for us.
• Item 13: Walk my dogs on the riverfront.
• Item 14: Go to the Superman Museum.
  • Well, we can mark this off this list. See photo evidence below the break.
• Item 15: Play some golf or go to the driving range.
• Item 16: Sleep.
• Item 17: Study my Dutch.

And I even got to stand in Superman’s crotch.
How exciting is that???
