After my 2 p.m. appointment was cancelled yesterday, I ended up playing hooky. I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a few books. I went to Target and bought a picture frame, dog food, two movies, and the In Treatment DVD set. I went to Petsmart, where I took a picture of a guinea pig just to freak out The Coach. No, I didn’t buy a cuy (yet), but I did get a fish tank for my office at work:

Awaiting the Arrival of Huey P.
It is intentionally crowded because beta fish like tight spaces. I added some live plants for food and the house for cover. It reminds me a bit of the swampy homes in Louisiana, so it will be the perfect spot for Huey P. the Second. [Note: Huey P. the First died the night before we left Louisiana. I can't believe that it's actually been seven years since I had a fish!] Now, I just need to wait for the water to temper, then go buy the little fish.
Of course, I am paying dearly for goofing off Friday (well, and Wednesday too). My to-do list is growing longer and longer:
-
Finish journal edits
-
Start working on BAPC Final Project
-
Send recruitment material to alumnus
-
Send recruitment material to other colleges
-
Clean off desk — It’s clean enough. I can find things again.
-
Grade graduate papers — That took longer than expected.
-
Prep undergrad class
-
Prep grad seminar for Monday night
-
Send reminder email to grad students
What I feel like doing on this rainy day is going home to curl up with a good book, a cup of cocoa, and Gabriel Byrne.
