It must be Monday

I am in a foul, foul mood. My extra stipend wasn’t listed on my paystub (and that was my vacation money, damn it). My husband’s evil leg is flaring up. My state still doesn’t have a budget (but will this really affect me – who knows?). And I have a zit on my butt, right [...]

Instead, I am going to balance my checkbook, pay some bills, plan my next vacation, make cabbage rolls, go swimming, go shopping, and just veg out. Seeing how I have to work Tuesday to Saturday … and it’s summer … I think I’m entitled to [...]

This just in …

… no raises at the University of Sorta’ Cosmopolitan this year.* Blah. Added to the fact that my property taxes doubled (thanks to a combination of local and state idiots), our sales taxes went up, and gas prices are taking their yearly hike towards $3, I’m feeling a bit screwed. It could be worse: I [...]

Institute

I am in a “scholarly” writing institute this week. Regular blogging will return this weekend, when I can think about something besides my research project. Let’s just say that I realized that my conference paper didn’t really have a theory section, something that is desperately needed to make it into an article. D’oh!

Throttle.

$271. That was the cost — with the warranty — to fix my car. It needed a new throttle and the computer programmed, along with a new fuel filter. Oh, and a new CD player because mine was shot. Sigh. Florida was an expensive trip, eh?
